_______

While right-wing ideologues intensify their attacks against any kind of decent social compact, the Obama administration shows more signs of ceding to corporate healthcare giants and Big Pharma. Meanwhile, on the warfare front, the U.S. escalation in Afghanistan is continuing.

But we can make a difference. PDA is working with many other activist groups to convene a strategy summit of the California Democratic Party’s Progressive Caucus. We’ll be gathering in San Luis Obispo next weekend and you’re invited!

The Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party has teamed up with many organizations, including PDA, Progressive Democrats of San Luis Obispo County, and Cal Poly College Democrats to bring you the Solidarity Summit in San Luis Obispo August 15-16, 2009. This will be a weekend to remember. Don’t miss this opportunity to be an active part of organizing for the issues of the day as well as planning the future direction of the Progressive Democrats in California. ALL California Progressive Democrats are invited to attend.

PDA is co-sponsoring Saturday evening’s program: “Crisis and Opportunity: War, Healthcare and the Democratic Party.” The program will focus on matters of life and death as we talk about the current state of affairs and what WE CAN DO about it. You won’t want to miss Norman Solomon, Rose Roach, and Marcy Winograd as they provide up to the minute information and lay out their ideas for the push-back. Earlier in the day, we’ll strategize in a series of breakout meetings around issues ranging from the California budget crisis, healthcare, war, water, and how we can organize the Progressive Caucus to be a truly statewide organization. This all about informing, organizing and agitating with fellow Progressive Democrats in California, and we want you to be a part of it!

What more can you ask for: the Central Coast, fellow Progressives, stimulating discussion and yes, putting plans in place. It’s a great way to spend a weekend, knowing that you’re a part of something bigger; that there are others who feel the way you do, and most of all, that they are eager to build on friendship, fellowship and work – that’s solidarity.
