22nd Annual Sonoma County Democratic Party Crab Feed - Feb. 26, 2010

Event Start Time:
Friday, 2010, February 26 - 6:00pm

DEMOCRATSTAKING BACK CALIFORNIA!

Ed. Note – Confirmation of posted start time is not available at this time. Please check back

The Sonoma County Democratic Party’s Annual Crab Feed is an “all you can eat” grass-roots celebration that is one of the best-attended political events of the year.

This event has sold out consistently for a decade and 2010 will be the same. So place your Sponsorship today — or order individual tickets today.

Dear Friends, In 2008 we took back our country. In 2010 we can take back our state.

During the Presidential campaign, your Sonoma County Democratic Party supported local candidates with phone banks, walking lists, production of campaign materials and a vigorous GOTV effort. Through our efforts, the Petaluma, Santa Rosa and City of Sonoma City Council’s achieved a historical progressive majority. And following the recall in Cotati this year, the Cotati City Council also enjoys a progressive majority.

Imagine what we can do in 2010 if we apply this same level of expertise and personal commitment to remove the Republican vice-like grip on the budget process in State of California?

The California Democratic Party has committed to a 58 County Strategy in 2010. With over 2,000 volunteers fully equipped and well organized – Sonoma County is poised to again make a difference —- here at home and in closely contested districts across our State.

We urge you to help make this vision a reality by becoming a sponsor of this year’s event.

Your sponsorship will help the Committee to:

• Raise the $20,000 they need to purchase a high-tech voter communication system;

• Ensure they can campaign effectively to take back Red California and change the requirement for a 2/3 vote to pass a state budget

• Work with the CDP to adopt red counties and elect Democrats

• Make certain we can elect local Democratic candidates at every level – including, County Supervisors, School Boards and City Councils

By electing a Democratic super-majority in our two State houses and a Democratic Governor we will stop the Republicans reckless control due to the two-thirds vote and veto power. Even better, we can change the 2/3’s requirement for passage of a budget with a statewide initiative.

Our local party is committed to playing a pivotal role – as the hub of phone banking and other activities to:

• Turn Assembly and Senate districts from Red to Blue across California

• Revise the 2/3 requirement to pass a state budget

• Repeal Proposition 8

• Save our State Parks, fund our schools and provide for the most in need

We have the will and the volunteers. During this election year we must build our capability to do more. This is an investment that will pay at the polls for years to come. We ask that you support our endeavor by purchasing a sponsorship.

Sponsorships are:

$1500 President 16Tickets (reserved table & special recogniton at the dinner)

$1000 Governor 10 Tickets (reserved table)

$500 Speaker of the House 6 Tickets (reserved table)

$300 Senator 4 Tickets

$150 Congress Member 2 Tickets

Individual tickets can be purchased for $50.00

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the Crab Feed!

The Progressive Caucus Solidarity Summit!

Event Start Time:
Saturday, 2009, August 15 - 10:00am

We are inviting all Progressive Caucus members, as well as other progressive Democrats who are interested in joining the Caucus. As you all know, it’s difficult to plan, let alone organize a caucus as large as ours in the time allotted to us every 3-4 months at formal Party Conventions and E-Board meetings, so this will be the first of what we hope are occasional in-between gatherings of the Caucus.

It is our hope that out of this gathering and others we will strengthen our solidarity and organizing capacity on the issues most important to us. There is much to discuss and work on together – from reviewing our Platform, setting Caucus priorities on policy issues, to nuts and bolts organizing – and that’s just a start. We all need to be on the same page from here on out if we are going to be an effective mechanism for positive change within the Party.

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us – we need you!

Sonoma County Democratic Party 21st Annual Crab Feed

Event Start Time:
Friday, 2009, February 27 - 6:00pm

This event is right around the corner. This year we have tickets left. So, if you were thinking of attending, take this opportunity and grab up some of the few tickets that are still available.

Our keynote speaker is John Burton, the next Chair of the California Democratic Party.

DEMOCRATS – WE ARE THE CHANGE

This festive event, which attracts over 600 guests, is the primary fundraiser to support election of Democratic candidates, advance a legislative agenda based on our shared Democratic values and other work throughout the year in our County.

This is an all you can eat dinner featuring local crab, premium wine, delicious pasta and garden greens salad. There is also a no-host bar, silent auction and an opportunity to have your picture taken with a life-size statue of President Obama. This is a good place to meet other Sonoma County Democrats and support your local Party.

During the last election, the Sonoma County Democratic Party joined with the local Obama Campaign. As a result, there were over 70,000 calls made to swing states from the Sonoma County Democratic Party Election Headquarters in support of Barack Obama. The Party printed (and in many cases) distributed over 80,000 pages of campaign literature for local candidates. The local Democratic Party performed the first election protection observation of the vote counting process by a political Party in our county’s history. In the 2008 election, over 70% of the candidates your local Party endorsed were elected to office. We could not have done all of this without your support.

Please come and celebrate with us.

We are asking people to purchase their tickets in advance for pick up at the event. No tickets will be mailed. Individual tickets are $50.

Credit Card purchases can be made at the link below.

Everything you ever wanted to know about casting and counting ballots

Event Start Time:
Wednesday, 2009, February 18 - 6:30pm

Sonoma County Democratic Party
Political Organizing Committee Special Event:

Have you ever wondered what happens to all the ballots in the ballot box at the end of the day? Or what happens after you send in your absentee ballot? What is the big deal about provisional ballots? Why does it take so long? These questions and more will be answered next month at a special event of the Political Organizing Committee:

At this special event, Alice Chan will explain how ballots are processed in Sonoma County . Alice Chan, the Chair of the Candidate Search Committee, has coordinated the monitoring of ballot counting from beginning to end and can answer all of our questions. This will be a great forum for those of us who have felt in the dark about the process, and will help us to answer the many questions that voters ask. A social will follow the special presentation.
