Dear Friends, In 2008 we took back our country. In 2010 we can take back our state.
During the Presidential campaign, your Sonoma County Democratic Party supported local candidates with phone banks, walking lists, production of campaign materials and a vigorous GOTV effort. Through our efforts, the Petaluma, Santa Rosa and City of Sonoma City Council’s achieved a historical progressive majority. And following the recall in Cotati this year, the Cotati City Council also enjoys a progressive majority.
Imagine what we can do in 2010 if we apply this same level of expertise and personal commitment to remove the Republican vice-like grip on the budget process in State of California?
The California Democratic Party has committed to a 58 County Strategy in 2010. With over 2,000 volunteers fully equipped and well organized – Sonoma County is poised to again make a difference —- here at home and in closely contested districts across our State.
We urge you to help make this vision a reality by becoming a sponsor of this year’s event.
Your sponsorship will help the Committee to:
• Raise the $20,000 they need to purchase a high-tech voter communication system;
• Ensure they can campaign effectively to take back Red California and change the requirement for a 2/3 vote to pass a state budget
• Work with the CDP to adopt red counties and elect Democrats
• Make certain we can elect local Democratic candidates at every level – including, County Supervisors, School Boards and City Councils
By electing a Democratic super-majority in our two State houses and a Democratic Governor we will stop the Republicans reckless control due to the two-thirds vote and veto power. Even better, we can change the 2/3’s requirement for passage of a budget with a statewide initiative.
Our local party is committed to playing a pivotal role – as the hub of phone banking and other activities to:
• Turn Assembly and Senate districts from Red to Blue across California
• Revise the 2/3 requirement to pass a state budget
• Repeal Proposition 8
• Save our State Parks, fund our schools and provide for the most in need
