Solomon Campaign Announces Endorsements From Rep. Raul Grijalva and Dolores Huerta

Two of the nation’s most influential Latino leaders — Rep. Raul Grijalva, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and Dolores Huerta, legendary co-founder of the United Farm Workers union — have endorsed Democratic candidate Norman Solomon for Congress.

The endorsements come in the race for an open seat in California’s new coastal district stretching from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border.

It’s Tuesday Feb. 22, in Phoenix, AZ and since Saturday, the Progressive Democrats of America Arizona Tour has already mobilized hundreds of activists in Bisbee, Naco and Tucson. We sang with the voices coming through the notorious fence on the hyper-militarized border at Naco, and we joined hundreds of activists today at the Arizona Legislature in Phoenix to protest the shockingly inhumane and probably unconstitutional proposed state law (SB 1113) that seeks every possible way to punish anyone living undocumented in this state—regardless of how long they’ve been here or how embedded and valuable they are in their communities.

Sixty-five congress members, including 60 Democrats and 5 Republicans, voted to end the occupation of Afghanistan on Wednesday. But 356 congress members, including 189 Democrats and 167 Republicans voted to keep the war going. The vote followed three hours of debate created by Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s introduction of a privileged resolution.
